Internet @ schools
Challange
Interkl@sa is a common Polish project that was developed in order to support the information society. Since 1998 it helps providing schools with computers, getting internet connections, organising further education and training for teachers, encouraging the use of modern technology in the educational system. It is also responsible for designing the biggest non-commercial, Polish educational portal.
Starting in 1998 thanks to this initiative we managed to convince all political directions to bring every year thousands of PCs into Polish schools. In our country we have introduced a program for the computer education of teachers for various school subjects (“Intel – Teaching towards future”), in which dozens of thousands teachers were trained.
Interkla@sa has along with the Polish district chapter and the company Cisco Systems signed a contract about creating 300 academies for informatics at middle schools, which provide courses for the most popular jobs in informaticsand which are finished with worldwide accepted certificates. In cooperation with the Polish-American freedom foundation and the Posenem Supercomputer-network center, the non-commercial Polish educational portal www.interklasa.pl was created, which is one of the biggest educational portals in the country at the moment.
Interkla@sa awards schools, which prepare their students for working in the information society according to the approved standards of the European Union, with the Interkl@sa-quality- award. We also help the Polish schools when they work together with European Schoolmet – an organisation that coordinates the activities of all European schools in the Internet and also promotes education using the most modern technology.
Since 2000 the Interkl@sa-project has been honored with many prices and awards. The project, which is responsibly coordinated by Mrs Grażyna Staniszewska, who also came up with the idea for the project, is managed by a task team, which consists of persons coordinating the education in informatics, self-governed persons and respresentatives of the multimedia publishers and companies.
