Pierwszy Przegląd Filmów Kulinarnych
First Food Movies Festival
From 23th until 25th October 2009 in the Warsaw cinema KULTURA the First Food Movies Festival will take place. This event is organised by the Association of Polish Moviemakers (Stowarzyszenie Filmowców Polskich) and Cinema Kultura.
During the Kuchnia.tv Food Film Festival, 9 documentary movies from Europe and the USA will be presented. Some of them were presented and awarded during international movie festivals.
At Friday, first day of the festival, viewers will see movies that present how much food influences our life quality. Opening movie is called „Food Fight” and was directed by Christopher Taylor. It is a view over changes that became a part of life in the American food culture in the 20th century. This movie was awarded through the International Documentary Association and was awarded as the best movie during Documentary Movie Festival HD FEST in Los Angeles and Indie Fest 2008. the same day, you will see a movie of a German director Antje Christ „Dabbawalla – the Lunchbox Miracle”, which shows a working system of couriers who deliver daily more than 20.000 meals in Bombay. Third movie is „Food Design” by Martin Hablesreiter and Sonja Stummer. This documentation shows how forms, smells, colours, consistence and sounds made during eating and production's techniques influence design of food products.
During the second day of festival (24th Oct, Saturday), you will see movies that are socially active. They show how food is made, which causes it brings for society, surrounding, culture according to the industrialization of food area. The viewers will see movies of Didier Fassio „Banana Wars” and „Terra Madre” by Ermanno Olmi (this movie was presented during the Berlinale 2009 and Movie Festival in Bologne). Third movie is „Food, Inc.” directed by Robert Kenner, which shows background of producing food in the USA and it sets a thesis that food producers deliberately hide information to consumers about food origin, food indigents and production process.
On Sunday (25th Oct), movies for movie addicted people will be showed. It will be about a great kitchen and diversity of tastes that is hidden in food. It is about food as one of the biggest and mostly approachable in the daily routine. These are pictures of people who cook with passion. You will see at that day „Made in Neapol” („Made in Naples”) of Manueli Cutolo, „Looking North” of Pierr Deschamps and „Le Cirque” of Andrew Rossi.
