Educational Expedition
Challange
From 31.8. until 9.9.2009 the team of „education’s citizens“ will journey across Germany and will film interesting and innovative educational projects. Documents and interviews will be put directly online at YouTube, Weblog and Twitter. This project is lead by an e-Learning professional from Heidelberg Lutz Berger and Professor Junior Dr. Christian Spannagel from Ludwigsburg. The Die „Educational Expedition Germany“ is a part of the Science Year „Science Expedition Germany”.
The international comparison analyses like PISA-study caused in Germany a depressive mood in the educational area. Is Germany at the bottom of the educational level? Is the educational republic just a pure wish and an election topic? Do pupils learn only how to be violent while playing online games? Do professors see their job as a chore which stops them from research work?
These and many other questions asked the e-Learning professional from Heidelberg Lutz Berger and Professor Junior Dr. Christian Spannagel from Ludwigsburg as well as other „educational citizens“. They travel from 31.8. until 9.9.2009 through Germany and search for „calm heroes“ of a daily routine: teachers and pedagogues who bring innovation to schools, for people who lead projects which go far away from the routine cases of education and companies which support new concepts in the educational level. Interviews and documentations will be published online as movies, audio-podcasts and weblog relations just at time. By so called Live-Blogging and Twitter a direct interaction with the expedition team will be possible.
The Educational Expedition will visit following cities: Munich, Bonn, Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin and Leipzig. Among all they will visit Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Gymnasium in Bonn, the Second-Life-consulting company SL Talk in Wiesbaden, the eXplorarium in Berlin and the Regiomontanus-Gymnasium in Hassfurt.
Personalities
Lutz Berger is the network learning and e-Learning professional from Heidelberg, he creates many e-Learning programs for many companies, he was awarded with a communication platform from Heidelberg komplizen.com as a service provider of the year in Baden-Württemberg, he produced for Universal numerous self-help-programs (energon, ichtuwasfürmich), he is editor of „Musik, Magie und Medizin“, a co-founder of Scope conferences and DGEIM, he accompanies movie makers by documentation work about innovative ways of learning like LdL (learning by teaching) or educamp, he involves himself at Reboot Deutschland and is a friend of Pirates’ Party.
Dr. Christian Spannagel is a Professor Junior in the fields of informatics and mathematical dialectics at the Teacher Training College of Ludwigsburg. He uses internet applications like weblogs and Wikis intensively in his research and teaching work. In the year 2008 he was awarded with the Teacher’s Prize of Baden-Württemberg for his innovative ideas of using Web-2.0 in the science. At the time he is representing a professorship at the Teacher Training College of Ludwigsburg.
